Bio:

Cara graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Multidisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Math. She has taught for a total of 13 years, the last 9 years as a 6th grade math teacher. She enjoys her 6th graders as they bring lots of energy to learning allowing them to achieve at high levels. Cara’s goal is to show her students that everyone can learn math and how relevant it is to their lives. She strives to have high expectations for her students, while keeping their stress level low. She enjoys active learning using and uses manipulatives, including play-dough, when teaching mathematical concepts. Cara uses cooperative learning to allow her students extra practice in problem solving so that they will become more confident in their abilities as they experience math success. Every day is a challenge as she works to encourage her students to become more independent thinkers.
